CENTRAL POINT, ORE—Microvellum recently partnered with the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC in Altoona, Pennsylvania, by donating software to their cabinetmaking program. This donation will support students' education in modern design, engineering, and manufacturing processes used in today's wood product industry.
The GACTC cabinetmaking program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers. These skills encompass everything from power tool setup and operation to kitchen cabinet installation, including sketching, shop drawing interpretation, and cabinet layout/design.
Microvellum's software donation of over $100,000 supports the GACTC cabinetmaking program, benefiting both instructor Kevin Lear and the participating students.
The GACTC program immerses students in real-world manufacturing projects, providing them with firsthand experience of how technology is essential in modern wood product manufacturing.
"Microvellum's incorporation into the curriculum will equip our students with hands-on experience in cutting-edge estimating, design, and manufacturing software, preparing them for the tech-driven world of cabinetmaking. In today's industry, proficiency in CAD, accurate estimating, and efficient manufacturing processes is crucial. By integrating Microvellum, we aim to equip our students with the advanced skills necessary to thrive and lead in this evolving field," commented Kevin Lear, Cabinetmaking/Finished Carpentry Teacher.
Soon, Kevin Lear will introduce his students to Microvellum University's (MVU) eLearning courses, which offer video-based training plans, sample projects, and quizzes. Hosted by RJ Pranski, an MVU instructor, experienced cabinetmaker, and Microvellum software expert, these educational videos showcase real-world workflows used by designers, drafters, estimators, and engineers in projects involving Toolbox software.
"The eLearning videos offer immense value for our students aspiring to build careers in the wood industry," shared Kevin. "These resources provide clear, structured, and engaging content that enhances understanding and skill development. By incorporating these videos into our curriculum, we ensure that our students are well-prepared with the latest knowledge and techniques, setting them up for success in an ever-evolving industry."
Students in GACTC's cabinetmaking program have full access to both Microvellum's software and MVU's eLearning training plans, allowing them to further their education and develop their skills.
