What is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting technology developed by Autodesk, one of the worlds leading software companies specializing in solutions within the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, and entertainment industries. AutoCAD is widely used by architects, project managers, graphic designers, and woodworking professionals.
This powerful, industry standard design and drafting platform relied on by millions of professional users from around the world.
AutoCAD + Microvellum Technology
Autodesk is constantly adding new functionality to AutoCAD – new tools for drafting, documenting, detailing, and prototyping are adding every year. As a Microvellum user, you benefit from being able to tap into this technology for cabinet design and engineering since our solution utilizes AutoCAD as the design engine. Combining this powerful platform for 2D and 3D visualization, and rendering with the intelligence of Microvellum’s 20+ years of experience in the cabinet industry results in a supreme solution for kitchen cabinet manufacturers.
Using AutoCAD as the design engine, our users benefit by the fact that Autodesk continues to advance their software as one of the largest enterprise software vendors in the world. When Autodesk advances, Microvellum advances…
Kitchen Cabinet Design
If you specialize in residential kitchen and bath cabinetry, you know that being able to provide a fast design, an accurate quote, as well as the production data needed to manufacture your design is essential. Our solutions cater to the needs of woodworking professionals building face frame and frameless cabinetry.
Users can quickly lay out a project in AutoCAD – complete with all walls, windows, obstructions, room components, cabinetry, flooring, and lighting. Presentation renderings and walk-through animations can be made using the built-in render engine. These presentation tools are included at no extra cost and ship with all levels of our software by default.
From Design to Production
Once the project design is complete and your customers are ready to see a quote, you can simply process the project and select from 100’s of user definable reports. All cabinet pricing, construction, and machining details are completely user definable – Users can customize these settings at any time and reprocess to produce the updated quote and production reports.
Next, you’re ready to send the project for plan check and processing – there’s no additional drawing required. 2D views such as sections and elevations can be generated from the 3D models and assembly reports can be printed for production.
During the processing phase, users can produce optimization reports for non-automated saws, and simultaneously create g-code files for every CNC router, point-to-point machining center and saw. Program files can also be automatically directed to the correct machine destination.
All single part DXF files, nested optimization DWGs can be viewed right in AutoCAD or shared with other users.
