How to Assign a Flash Movie to a Product in a Microvellum Overdrive CUT File

SUMMARY

This article describes how to further automate the import process from a Microvellum Overdrive Library to SellingPoint by importing a Macromedia Flash Movie in the ".swf" format.

MORE INFORMATION

Begin by opening the desired product CUT file in a spreadsheet editing program such as Microsoft Excel and switch to the "Prompts" sheet.

To specify the shipping price of the product:

  1. Locate the section containing hidden prompts.  Visible prompts are separated by hidden prompts by an empty row, so the hidden prompts section will start with the first row after an empty row.
  2. Add a new row column with "A" containing "Flash Movie" and column "B" containing the file name of the image to be used.  The file must have the ".swf" extension to work properly.

NOTE: Do not enter a full path to the Flash Movie, only the file name.  The Flash Movie file should be placed in the same folder on the system in which the CUT file exists.

Movies should be formatted with the dimensions of 350 pixels wide by 185 pixels high.  Movies of any other size will still be loaded, but may look distorted.

In the case that a static preview image and a Flash Movie are specified for a product, the Flash Movie will take precedence.

The following is a screen shot of a sample CUT file with the modified prompts page:
