Creating Orders In or Out of the Office

Introduction
SellingPoint Sales Edition offers several flexible ways in which to create orders. Look at the scenarios below to find out how each is accomplished with the SellingPoint System.

On the Road with a Laptop
Taking SellingPoint mobile is easy. The intelligent synchronization technologies allow the mobile worker to work offline without a problem.

  1. Before going mobile, obtain a copy of the SellingPoint product catalog(s) desired. The easiest way to do this is to download of a SellingPoint Online web store. Alternately, the company can provide a catalog file. Either way, ensure that the catalog is saved to the laptop.
  2. When in the field, create orders as usual.
  3. When getting back to the office to to a location with an internet connection, simply select the orders that should be sent to the company via the internet. Another option would be to save the orders to a single file and submit that file to the company via email or disk.

In the Office with no Internet Connection
Due to different reasons, such as company policy, some may not have access to the internet from their office workstation.

  1. Obtain a copy of the SellingPoint product catalog(s) desired. The company can provide a catalog file or access to a Microvellum Library.
  2. Create orders as usual.
  3. When completed with order entry, submit the orders via an order file.

In the Office with an Internet Connection
The ideal situation is where a workstation has an always-on connection to the internet. Current product catalogs are always available and orders can be transmitted back to the engineering or manufacturing department at any time.

  1. Obtain a copy of the SellingPoint product catalog(s) desired. The easiest way to do this is to download of a SellingPoint Online web store. Alternately, the company can provide a catalog file or offer direct access to a Microvellum Library.
  2. Create orders as usual.
  3. When completed with order entry, select the orders that should be sent to the company and via the internet. Another option would be to save the orders to a single file and submit that file to the appropriate department via email or disk.

In the Office with a Local Area Connection
Most offices have a local area network which allows moving order data between computers with SellingPoint easy.

  1. Obtain a copy of the SellingPoint product catalog(s) desired. The company can provide a catalog file or access to a Microvellum Library.
  2. Create orders as usual.
  3. When completed with order entry, submit the orders via an order file.
