Pro Subassemblies
Subassemblies are individual products containing their own cut parts and hardware parts. The difference between a subassembly product and any other product is that subassemblies cannot have their own subassemblies. Unlike products in the product library, subassemblies are stored in a folder called “Subassemblies” located below each job folder. Because each job has its own subassembly folder, it is possible to change the parts within a subassembly for one job without affecting the subassembly parts within another job. To change or add new subassemblies to the product, from the “Subassembly” tab you must double-click in the "Subassembly Name" cell and then select a subassembly from the "Subassembly Selection Menu". The subassemblies in the "Subassembly Selection Menu" are located in a Subassembly folder in the job folder. To access the parts of a subassembly, select the subassembly you want to look at and then select the “Show Subassembly File” menu item either from the “Edit” menu or from the parts list context menu, which appears when you right-click. From here you can edit the parts, hardware, and prompts that are in the subassembly. All the tools that are available in the Parts List are also available in the Subassembly file. Remember that subassemblies are products within products. Changes made to a subassembly file will affect all products that reference that subassembly in a job. With the "Save Subassembly As" command in the Context menu, you can edit a subassembly and save it as a brand new subassembly in the job. If you make changes to a subassembly, you can also save the subassembly back to the template folder. The changes made to a subassembly, or any new subassemblies, will be available in all new jobs created from that point forward, but will have no affect on existing jobs. Subassembly Prompts Subassembly prompts work the same as product prompts. Since the subassembly prompts do not have a subassembly prompts page, you can only edit subassembly prompts from the subassembly tab in the subassembly file; thus, many fields in the subassembly prompts tab become unusable, such as control type and prompt color. To reference a prompt from the product prompts you must use an "L!" and then the prompt name. This will reference a prompt name on the product prompts tab. The product subassembly tab has a width, height, and depth column which are used for the width, height, and depth prompts on the subassembly prompts tab. Subassembly Origins The origin columns on the subassembly tab specify the location of the subassembly in reference to the product origin point. The product origin point is the bottom left corner of the product. All subassembly and hardware part locations must be referenced from this point. Subassembly Z Rotation Column The "Z Rotation" column on the subassembly tab will rotate the subassembly on the Z Axis. This will automatically rotate all the parts in the subassembly. |
