Pro Prompts
A “Prompt”, or "Local Variable", allows for associated values to be controlled so that any individual cabinet product can be built in the desired manner. For example, it is usually desirable that all base cabinets at least have the option of being built with or without a toe kick, as well as, having control of the height of that toe kick. With that option, it is then up to the project engineer to decide what the toe kick height will be on any given base cabinet in any given room. The Prompt named “Toe Kick Height” gives the engineer the option to specify the height of the toe kick. The Prompt value can then be used in various formulas to adjust the length of cabinet sides, the origin point for cabinet parts, whether or not to apply machining to a side for a notched toe kick, and many others. All products must have a minimum of three Prompts: Width, Height, and Depth. The addition of all other Prompts is left to the product designer. The library available from Microvellum includes Prompts that have been added to create products with the greatest possible flexibility, without making the user scroll through an excessive amount of additional Prompts. For example, “Toe Kick Height” would not be appropriate for an upper cabinet. From the "Prompts" tab in the Parts List, you are able to view, add, and edit Prompts to your product. The Prompts are divided into two different sections. The first section is the Prompts that will be displayed in the Prompts menu of the product. The second section, which is separated by a blank row, is the "Hidden Prompts" of a product. “Hidden Prompts” are fully functional in all formulas, but will not display on the “Show Prompts” screen of a product. Each of the different columns in the Prompts page allows you to control that prompt in various ways. |
