Pro Program Configuration
Microvellum can be setup to use multiple configurations. This is useful when you have multiple libraries, templates, or job folders that you would like to keep organized. Each of the different configurations is stored in separate "INI Files". The "INI File" is a configuration file. Each of the different configuration files store the paths and options that are found in the Options Page. Setting Up a New Configuration File To set up a new configuration file, select "Edit Current Configuration" from the "Tools" drop down menu. The Configuration Editor screen will be displayed with the name of the configuration file. To create a new configuration file, enter a new file name at the bottom of the screen. This will create a configuration file with the new name. Now you can setup the options and paths for the new configuration. Changing Configuration Files To switch between configuration files, select the "Change Configuration" command from the "Tools" drop down menu. This will display a list of the configurations available. Select the configuration you want and the program will then change to the new settings. It is important to remember to switch configurations before starting or opening any jobs. Using Configurations to Setup Multiple Job Parameters Having different configurations makes it possible to build a job with completely different sets of parameters, without changing programs. Instead of modifying the Global Variable files, material files, user files, and tool file every time a job has different requirements, setting up multiple configuration files that point to the different combinations of files can be used to create jobs. One common scenario would be someone who is working in Imperial units of measure, but occasionally works in Metric, or vice versa. A second scenario would be a company that has two different machining centers and needs the ability to change back and forth between them. A third scenario would be a company that has two different libraries with different construction methods used for different jobs. The important settings that you need to change in each configuration file are: Path to Microvellum User Files Path to the "AutoCAD" Template File
Each of these "Paths" can be accessed from the Options screen. |
