Overdrive Pro Machining Tab

The Machining Tab controls various items related to G-code generation for routers and point-to-point machining centers.

Machine Tool File

The Machine Tool File option is the path to your tool file.  The machine tool file writes the G-code to your machining center.  You must set this path to the appropriate tool file for your machine.  If you are not using CNC equipment, you should not ignore this file because the tools located in this file are also used for drawing purposes.  Please see the Tool File section for more information on Tool Files.

Edgebanding Sequence

Under “Edgebanding Sequence”, select the appropriate radio button depending on whether the parts are placed on the point-to-point prior to or after edgebanding.  Nested-based manufacturing always edgebands after machining.  If you are designing new products in Microvellum Toolbox, you should have this set to "Edgeband After Machining" during the development process.

Edgebander PreMill Dimension

If you are running an edgebander that subtracts from the part size when an edgeband is applied, you want to enter in that dimension in the "Edgebander PreMill Dimension" option.  Adding a value for this option will add the value to the cut width and cut length of each part having edgebanding on one or more edges.  The result will be an oversized panel cut on the saw or router; so once the edgebanding has been applied, the finished part size will be correct.

Output Preference

The "Output Preference" option allows you to specify what type of information the tool file is going to output.  This information will be released in the "Manufacturing Data" folder after processing a job.

G-code File Names

This option will change the way that the G-code file names are named.  If you want the file names to be random so they will not duplicate from job to job, use the "Use Incremental Naming Convention" option.  This option will make sure that no two file names are the same in all your jobs, but it will not be easy to read which file goes to which part.  The "Use Item Number + Part Number Naming Convention" option will make the file names easier to read and know which file brings up which part, but it is possible there will be duplicates from job to job.
