Hardware can be added to your product through the "Hardware Parts" tab.  To add a new hardware, double-click in the "Hardware Name".  This will display a "Hardware Selection Menu".  The "Hardware Selection Menu" displays a list of all the hardware material pointers, as well as, a list of the hardware.  This information is contained inside the material file.  Double-click on either a hardware material pointer or a hardware piece to add it to the product.

Creating New Hardware

To create new hardware from the Hardware Selection Menu, select the “Hardware” radio button and then select the "New" button.  This will display the hardware creation screen.  This screen allows you to enter in a description of the hardware, a code for the hardware, and the cost of the hardware.  Hardware can also be shown on the drawing while using AutoCAD and Microvellum Toolbox.  If you have an AutoCAD drawing file that you would like to associate to this hardware piece, under the “Drawing Files” tab you can select a 3D drawing file as well as an elevation drawing file.  That drawing file will be drawn on the product if this material is used.  Once all the information has been filled out, you can add your new hardware to your "Hardware Selection Menu" by selecting the "Add Material to List" button.  The new hardware will now be available in your list.

Hardware can also have machining instructions attached to them.  This will apply machining operations to your product.  Please see the Associative Hardware section for more information on how to use machining instructions on your hardware parts.

Quantity

The quantity column on the “Hardware Parts” tab is used to specify how many of each hardware part will be used in this product.  This number is used on reports created in Microvellum.  If there are drawing files attached to the hardware part, this column will specify how many of these hardware parts to draw on the product.

Width, Height and Depth

The width, height, and depth columns are used for reporting purposes only and do not actually change the size of the specified hardware.  If you want to display the width, height, and depth of a hardware part on the reports, enter in the hardware parts information in these columns on the “Hardware Parts” tab.

Hardware Parts Origin and Rotation

The Origin columns on the “Hardware Parts” tab are used to place the hardware part on the product.  These columns are only necessary if your hardware part has a drawing file associated with it and you want the hardware to be drawn in the correct location on the product.  The hardware must be referenced off of the product origin, which is the bottom left corner of the product.  All hardware parts must be referenced from this location.  The Rotation columns will rotate the hardware drawing that is associated with your hardware part.  Rotating a hardware part in X, Y, or Z, will rotate the hardware part in the corresponding AutoCAD axis.

Associative Rotation

The Associative Rotation column is used when your hardware part has machining instructions applied to it.  Please see the Associative Hardware section for more information about the Associative Rotation column.
